555 Police siren

Schematic Diagrams      Comments Off on 555 Police siren

The Police Siren circuit uses two 555’s to produce an up-down wailing sound. The first 555 is wired as a low-frequency oscillator to control the VOLTAGE CONTROL pin 5 of the second 555. The voltage shift on pin 5 causes the frequency of the second oscillator to rise and fall.

US-Style Siren

Schematic Diagrams      Comments Off on US-Style Siren

The circuit described here can create three different ‘US-style’ siren sounds: police, ambulance and fire engine. The desired sound can be selected using switch S1. The circuit can be used in toys (such as model vehicles), as part of an alarm system, and in many other applications. For use in… Read more »

Multitone Siren

Schematic Diagrams      Comments Off on Multitone Siren

This multi-tone siren is useful for burglar alarms, reverse horns, etc. It produces five different audio tones and is much more ear-catching than a single-tone siren. The circuit is built around popular CMOS oscillator-cum-divider IC 4060 and small audio amplifier LM386. IC 4060 is used as the mult-itone generator. A… Read more »

Powerful Security Siren

Schematic Diagrams      Comments Off on Powerful Security Siren

Simple circuit – No ICs required, 12V Battery operation This circuit was requested by several correspondents. Its purpose was to obtain more power than the siren circuit already available on this website (One-IC two-tones Siren) and to avoid the use of ICs. A complementary transistor pair (Q2 & Q3) is… Read more »

When The Siren Sounds – A Useful Circuit

Schematic Diagrams      Comments Off on When The Siren Sounds – A Useful Circuit

In Greek mythology, a siren was a demonic being (half bird, half woman). Later on this idea was transformed in art into a mermaid: a combination of a fish and a woman. Mechanical and electromechanical versions were invented even later, and electronic models were developed in the last century. Sirens… Read more »

Siren Driver circuit

Schematic Diagrams      Comments Off on Siren Driver circuit

Zetex Semiconductors have a siren driver IC Type ZSD100 available that is suitable for use in alarm systems for cars and model craft. With the addition of only a few components as shown in the diagram, the device produces an ear-splitting sound of 120 dB. The IC contains an a.f…. Read more »

Electronic Siren

Schematic Diagrams      Comments Off on Electronic Siren

This is Electronic Siren circuit diagram. The sound produced imitates the rise and fall of an American police siren. When first switched on the 10u capacitors is discharged and both transistors are off. When the push button switch is pressed to 10u capacitor will charge via the 22k resistor. This… Read more »
